Frequently Asked Questions about IASIS MCN
What is the process for an IASIS MCN Session?
When you arrive for your IASIS MCN session, you will first fill out your observation sheet ranking your current symptoms on a scale of 0 to 10. Then we will prepare the electrode placement sites. This involves getting any hair out of the way by pinning it back using hair clips. Then a cleansing gel is used to scrub each site to achieve the best connectivity possible. This is the most uncomfortable part of the treatment as the cleansing gel feels a bit like being licked by a scratchy cat tongue. Next, a dab of connectivity paste is applied to each site and each of the five electrodes is pressed into place. The preparation phase is usually the longest part of the treatment process. Next comes the actual treatment. This is a passive process; you get to just sit back and relax! The EEG leads monitor your brainwaves, sending an electric signal to the computer and IASIS MCN processor. The processor returns a microcurrent signal back to your brain that mirrors your own brainwaves, producing a fluctuation in your brainwaves that allows a gentle release of fixed frozen patterns. New neural pathways are made, increasing neuroplasticity, as the brain rebalances itself. What you may feel from the treatment is calmer, relaxed, focused and alert.
What makes Microcurrent Neurofeedback unique?
IASIS Microcurrent neurofeedback (MCN) is completely passive; you get to just sit back and relax while being treated. A brief tiny signal transmitted to the brain does all the work for you. IASIS MCN is safe, effective, non-invasive, drug-free, and pain-free.
Who can be treated with IASIS MCN?
Anyone and everyone! IASIS MCN is safe and non-invasive, so if you can sit in a chair, you can receive a treatment. There is no medical condition, age, medication, allergy, etc. that would prevent one from safely being treated.
Is IASIS MCN safe?
Yes, IASIS MCN is very safe. The MCN system we use employs an FDA registered EEG amplifier and is extremely safe. IASIS MCN is safe, effective, non-invasive, drug-free, and pain-free.
Does IASIS MCN interfere with medication?
No, IASIS MCN does not interfere with medication. Successive treatments may make a client more sensitive to their medication, meaning not as much is needed. Clients are strongly encouraged to consult with their prescribing physician about any changes, reductions, or discontinuation that may be warranted in their prescription.
Do you feel anything during a treatment?
No, you won’t feel anything specifically during a treatment, though many people report feeling calmer, more relaxed, alert and focused by the end. IASIS MCN is safe, effective, non-invasive, drug-free, and pain-free.
How long does a session take?
The initial session may last about 45 – 60 minutes and includes filling out paperwork such as intake questionnaires and a liability release. Follow up treatments typically last about 30 minutes.
Is one session all I need?
The short answer is no; IASIS MCN is not a one and done protocol, though many people do report feeling calmer and more relaxed even after their first session. IASIS MCN is a cumulative protocol, meaning that the shifts that happen in your autonomic nervous system (ANS) stay, but it is also a gentle process and so takes time. With IASIS MCN you can reach enduring sustainability, meaning that your ANS holds the shifts, and your brainwaves stay balanced. As such, we offer packages for 12, 20 and 40 sessions.
Is IASIS MCN covered by insurance?
IASIS MCN is not usually covered by insurance; further, I am unable to accept insurance.
What is a typical IASIS MCN treatment schedule?
Please note that every nervous system is unique, and so the schedule that is just right for you may look a bit different than what is presented here. 12 Session Package: 2x/week for 3 weeks 1x/week for 3 weeks Every other week for 3 weeks (Total treatment time 12 weeks) 20 Session Package: 2x/week for 3 weeks 1x/week for 3 weeks Every other week for 3 weeks Once a month for 8 months (Total treatment time 1 year)
Is your studio handicap accessible?
Unfortunately, not currently. I see clients out of my home studio and so can only accommodate those who are fully ambulatory.
Have any studies been done to prove IASIS MCN’s efficacy?

Do you have any testimonials?
Here are testimonials from some of my past clients: “Just wanted to say thank you again for the IASIS MCN sessions. I just sat down and plowed through about 70 pages of review material for my licensing exam over the past three hours. It occurred to me that this is a task that I previously could not have imagined doing - having this ability to think/memorize/process in a sustained way in the evening. Wow - I just surprised myself! Thank you for your help!” - Barbara “As a chronic insomnia suffer, I was looking for a solution to breaking what I call the constant active anxiety thought loops I would find myself in every night around 2am. So Heather at Apex NeuroCare suggested I try IASIS MCN to see if that would help either break the thought loop chain or at a minimum calm my nocturnal and irritating brain activity down to where I could get back to sleep at night. Or better yet, help me to not wake up at all. I believe it helped. I experienced about a 60% improvement over all in quality of sleep, and about a 35% decrease in those 2 to 4 am wake-up events. And that was with only just a few treatments. The sessions are easy, fast, and completely painless. In fact, they are rather relaxing.” – Tamara
What about EMF’s?
The magnitude of microcurrent impulses is extremely low – only 3 pico watt, or 3 trillionths of a watt. That’s the equivalent of about one - one millionth of that of a cell phone or 1/100th of that of an AA battery. These impulses are exceptionally low energy.
As an additional precaution, clients may opt to use one of the studio’s earthing mats during their treatment. To read more about the earthing mat click here.

What’s your “WHY” for becoming an IASIS MCN Provider?
I first heard about IASIS MCN during a training session with Dr. Aimie Apigian, for whom I’m a somatic mentor in her 21 Day Journey into Your Nervous System and All Parts of Me Courses. She was talking about the TBI study showing how IASIS MCN helped in recovery. In a later training session, Dr. Aimie had Barry Bruder, CEO of IASIS, and Theresa Horeb, head of provider support, share more about IASIS MCN. I became a bit more interested, especially when Barry talked about IASIS MCN helping the glymphatic system remove metabolic waste from the brain and that clients reach enduring sustainability with IASIS MCN, meaning the shifts in the autonomic nervous system last. But it was when I heard an interview with Gary and Gloria Duke on Dr. Aimie’s Biology of Trauma Summit where Gary talked about the hugely helpful impact IASIS MCN had on kids in his foster care agency that I decided I wanted to find a provider in my area. My family has been on our own trauma healing journey, and IASIS MCN was a resource I wanted to access.
At the time, there was no IASIS provider in my local area. I filled out the inquiry on the IASIS website asking if anyone was in training and received a phone call from Barry Bruder himself. After hearing why I was looking for a provider, he suggested I become one myself. I wasn’t sure that was the path I wanted to take but agreed to pray about it and see how the Lord led. Needless to say, the Lord led me to become an IASIS MCN provider – providing both the funds to purchase my own IASIS MCN system and the signatory for me to work under Margaret (Peggy) Glenney, developmental audiologist. I’m grateful to be able to provide IASIS MCN for my family and now also for the clients who come to my studio.
